Our Work

IKEA Auckland’s Food Service Operation

  • Client: IKEA
  • Sector: Restaurant & Cafe
  • Project: IKEA Main Restaurant
  • Location: Auckland
  • Completed: November 2025
  • Construction: November 2025
  • Team: Project Design | Project Delivery Team

When IKEA prepared to open its first New Zealand store in Auckland on 4 December 2025, they needed a hospitality partner capable of building a high-performance food service operation from the ground up.

Southern Hospitality was engaged to deliver this project, bringing together design expertise, premium equipment, and hands-on support to ensure seamless operations across their food service area, so they are fully ready for opening day.

IKEA required a kitchen setup that could withstand heavy daily use, maintain fast and efficient customer flow, and meet strict food safety standards, all while aligning with the brand’s clean Scandinavian aesthetic. To achieve this, Southern Hospitality collaborated closely with IKEA’s project teams, designing and fitting out each food service zone with carefully selected equipment, including Rational iCombi ProWaldorf cooktopFrymaster FryersSkope Refrigeration, and smallwares. The stainless-steel work was extensive and complex, requiring precision and attention to detail to ensure durability and a flawless finish throughout the kitchen. Installationtesting and safety checks were completed on schedule, followed by on-the-ground support to help the in-store team prepare for launch.

The result is a streamlined, high-capacity kitchen operation that powers thousands of meals served every day. Southern Hospitality’s end-to-end delivery ensured a smooth opening and helped bring IKEA’s iconic Swedish dining experience to New Zealand with the efficiency, quality, and consistency the brand is known for.

If you’re planning a new project or upgrading an existing venue, our team is ready to deliver a tailored solution that matches your operational needs.
