Adina Apartment Hotel

Located in the heart of Auckland’s CBD and overlooking Queen’s Wharf, Adina Apartment Hotel offers 140 apartment style, one and two bedroom studio rooms.

Southern Hospitality’s SH Interiors team worked alongside Adina Hotel on their renovation project, firstly giving the room interiors a modern update with stylish, bright furniture and appliances and more.

Beyond this, Southern Hospitality was tasked with adding a few special touches to the lobby and eatery areas to give the space its own unique personality. Approaching the job from a perspective emphasising nature and flow, a hole was cut out in the lobby wall to create a connection between the hotel lobby and the Yard Bar and Eatery.

The hotel requested greenery to be installed in the large, tall entrance lobby, so the project was joined by horticulturalist Ryan McQuerry of Outside In, an Auckland greenery-focused interior design business.

A three metre tall Rhapis excelsa palm now lights up the hotel lobby, as well as a range of potted plants at the entrance, such as Asplenium bulbiferum and Clivia miniata in bloom amongst others, presented in earthy, rustic stone pots.

An empty space presented a challenge, as a single wall behind a pillar prevented the space from being used in a meaningful way. Outside In's custom-built shelves made from the same timber as the bar were installed in the space, and filled with a selection of greenery (Philodendron cordatum, Scindapsus pictus and more), creating a beautiful, lively green feature wall in that unusable space.
